This 4-week workshop focuses on floor exercises and movements that allow participants to get up and down from the floor with grace and ease. Getting up successfully from the floor is a predictor of longevity and everyone benefits when they have this ability. Using body weight, we work on upper body strength and lower body strength. Many exercises performed on the floor on a blanket and yoga mat. Movement strategies focus on functional strength building and fall prevention, which are essential for aging in place and remaining independent. Individuals recovering from falls who have completed their physical therapy are encouraged to participate. Being active and improving strength reduces your chances of falling again.
Concerned that you can’t get on the floor now? That’s what we will work on - getting you safely to the floor and then up again. Step by step, from a chair to a bench, to the floor and then up again! Practice builds confidence and strength! Don’t let the fear of falling prevent you from living the life you know you deserve - independent, safe, and free.
